Giorgio Chiellini, an Italy defender, has announced that he will quit Juventus at the end of the season after 17 years.

Since joining the club from Fiorentina in 2005, the 37-year-old center-back has won nine Serie A titles and five Coppa Italia.

Inter Milan defeated Juventus in the Italian Cup final on Wednesday. Juventus finished fourth in the Italian top flight.

“I’ve done everything I can,” Chiellini said after the 4-2 loss in Rome. “I hope I’ve left something behind.”

Chiellini earned his first Scudetto with Inter in 2011-12, and he went on to win nine more with the club before Inter’s victory last season.

He told the Italian network Mediaset, “We had these ten beautiful years – now it is up to the others to continue.”

“On Monday, I’ll say my final goodbyes at Juventus Stadium, and if I have anything left in the tank, I might have a run-out in Florence. It’s entirely my fault “cision.”

With two league games remaining, Massimiliano Allegri’s team is assured of a top-four finish. They face Lazio on Monday before traveling to Fiorentina on May 22.

Giorgio Chiellini had already stated that he would retire from international football after Italy’s match against Argentina in June at Wembley Stadium, the same venue where Italy defeated England to win the Euro 2020 final last summer.

He is joint fifth on the list of Italy’s most-capped players, alongside Andrea Pirlo, having made his debut in 2004.

He is unsure, though, whether he will continue to play club football.

Chiellini said of his future with the club, “I don’t know.” “I’ll have to discuss it with my family.

“I’m glad to be leaving at such a high level since I’ve said for years that I don’t want to finish struggling and unable to play at my best.

“I gave it everything I had. From the outside, I’ll soon be the biggest Juventus supporter. You can’t seem to get out of this club after so many years.”

    Player Profile

Giorgio Chiellini’s determination, leadership, and dedication to the cause have made him a powerful force at the heart of Juventus’ defense for more than a decade, and a fitting successor to Gianluigi Buffon as Bianconeri captain for the 2018/19 season.

Chiellini began his career as a promising full-back at Livorno and later Fiorentina, but after moving to Turin in 2005, he quickly discovered the position that best fits his abilities, solidifying his place as a club and international staple. He became one of Juventus’ top ten longest-serving players in the 2017/18 season, and he continues to climb that illustrious list with each match played.

Chiellini’s aerial skills make him a valuable asset in either penalty area, and he consistently contributes with crucial goals. Chiello’s most memorable shot, though, came with his feet in the 2015 Coppa Italia final, when his spectacular overhead kick helped Juve win their 10th Coppa Italia.

Chiellini’s ruthlessness on the field is matched by his brilliance off it: he has a Master’s degree in Economics and graduated from the University of Turin with honors in Economic Sciences in 2010. We look forward to another season with you, Caption Chiello.
