Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has expressed that it is common knowledge that Toni Kroos is an “extraordinary player”.
Nagelsmann also tagged the midfielder as “unbelievable”, following his brilliant display in the Germans’ 2-0 silencing of France.
Kroos was central to Germany’s magnificent showing against Les Blues, dictating and orchestrating play from the middle of the park.
Aging has apparently had nothing on the midfielder, as he continues to put up scintillating outputs every now and again.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side started the game high-flying, with Florian Wirtz rifling Germany ahead with a shot from 30 yards out, following a quaking pass from Toni Kroos that split the midfield of France.
Seconds into his international return, Kroos displayed his class and he was lauded for his efforts by many across the globe.
The game was a tune-up friendly for both nations, who are preparing to do exploits at the 2024 European Championships.
Toni Kroos was recalled back to the squad of Germany, after about three years of absence due to international retirement.
When did Toni Kroos reveal he would come out of retirement?
In February 2024, Kroos revealed that he would come out of retirement to play for the 2014 FIFA World Cup champions at the upcoming European Championships and about a month later he was called up to the national team.
Speaking on the former Bayern Munich man’s display against France, Julian Nagelsmann said: “Unbelievable, to be honest.
“With the ball, we all know that he is an extraordinary player. But also how he got involved in duels.
“He’s quite a normal guy and integrates into the group. That’s very good”.
Toni Kroos is expected to be part of Die Mannschaft’s squad for the 2024 European Championships to be held in Germany and he will be a key player for the nation, as they look to get back to reckoning.
Germany are 3-time champion of the European Championships, winning it in 1972, 1980, and 1996.
Following their 2014 World Cup triumph in Brazil, the European nation has experienced a steady decline internationally, but they are hoping that their fortunes can improve under boss Nagelsmann.
Speaking on his future with Germany, Julian Nagelsmann said: “That depends a bit on the offer. Generally speaking, I’m of course happy when the protagonists are satisfied with the coaching staff.
“It’s not impossible, but it’s not a given either. The focus is on the Euros”.
Anyway, Die Mannschaft return to action on March 26, 2024, facing the Netherlands in an international friendly ahead of the Euros.
Moreover, Toni Kroos has made 107 appearances for Germany, scoring 17 goals and providing 20 assists in all competitions.
The 34-year-old was part of the German squad that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, defeating Argentina in the final by 1-0, courtesy of an extra-time goal from Mario Gotze.
