A German youth football head coach Helge Rasche, has been confirmed dead after a fatal auto accident on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
According to reports from German outlets, Helge Rasche’s ride tumbled off the road and went into a tree, leading to a fatal accident scene.
He reportedly died on the spot from injuries sustained during the crash. Until his death, Helge Rasche worked as a U-19 coach for the Bundesliga club, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed the death of the former footballer in a statement shared on the club’s website and social media.
“Eintracht Frankfurt is devastated by the loss of U19 head coach Helge Rasche.
“The 33-year-old lost his life in a traffic accident yesterday. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Our thoughts are with him, his family and loved ones. Rest in peace,” Eintracht Frankfurt’s statement reads.
According to BILD, Rasche was driving a white Hyundai on a road between Dietzenbach and Rodgau, to the southwest of Frankfurt.
The publication stated that his car went off the road after a junction to a gravel works and crashed into a tree.
Further details of the report revealed that the Hyundai was ruined beyond recognition after the accident, with the front of the car which hit the tree destroyed.
It’s unclear the type of injury he sustained in the crash. However, close reports indicate he sustained several injuries, leading to his instant death. Frankfurt U-19 players were informed about the incident hours later.
Rasche joined Eintracht’s youth department in 2020. In 2023 he was promoted to U17 and then U19 head coach in the youth Bundesliga.
This season, he was on the sidelines for five games in the U19 youth league (Group D) – where they were second with 10 points.
Rasche had been preparing his side for their home game against Darmstadt 98 on September 14, 2024.

Helge Rasche began his coaching career with Hallescher FC before joining Frankfurt’s youth setup in 2020. He took charge of the Under-19 side in 2023 after previously coaching the Under-17s.
After losing their opening league game of the season against Karlsruhe, they took 10 points from their next four games to sit second in their group. Most recently, they scored a late equalizer to draw 2-2 against Nurnberg.
The 2023-24 season was Rashe’s first full campaign in charge of Frankfurt’s Under-19 team. They finished sixth out of 14 teams in the Under-19 Bundesliga after winning 13 of their 26 matches, including an opening-day victory over Bayern Munich’s youngsters.
The youth football community has also rallied around, with various clubs sending messages of support.
