Gerard Pique has taken out time to condemn the intention of Barcelona to bring back Lionel Messi to Camp Nou from PSG.
Gerard Pique who played alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona and won many trophies together, feels that it is a bad idea for Messi to return to the club.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with a free summer transfer move for the 7 times Ballon D’Or winner if he decides to leave PSG.
Messi’s contract with PSG is set to expire in June 2023 and they are yet to reach an agreement with the club to extend the contract.
Barca wants to use the opportunity to lure the World Cup winner back to the team in the summer.
Rafa Yuste, Barcelona President, stated that the club is in talks with Messi and his representatives for a potential move despite their financial crisis.
Pique said to Mundo Deportivo, “I know Rafa Yuste and how he is. He’s a very good person and he will always tell you what you want to hear.”
“He’s a great person, and he is going to choose the right words to say what you like to hear.”
“Obviously for all the ‘cules’ it would be incredible if Leo came back, but there comes a point where forcing situations too much, can be counterproductive.”
Yuste the club President, believes the club can convince Leo Messi to do a fairytale comeback to the Spanish giants.
But as it stands, PSG are determined to keep the Argentine captain in Paris even after his contract expires in June.
PSG on the other hand do not want to let go of Messi as reports have it that they want to offer him an “unlimited contract.”

Gerard Piqué Bernabeu is a Spanish former footballer who was born on 2nd February 1987. He was a defender who played centre back.
Pique is widely considered as one of the best defenders of his generation due to his pressure management, tackling and defensive skills.
Gerard Piqué like other Barcelona stars was a product of La Masia academy. He later joined Manchester United in 2004.
The Spaniard returned to Barcelona during Pep Guardiola’s era and helped the team win treble in 2008/09 and 2014/15 seasons.

Before Lionel Messi left Barcelona where he spent almost his entire football career to PSG in 2021, he helped the club win a record 34 trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, Seven Copa Del Rey and Four Champions Leagues.
Though Messi coming back to Barcelona for another stint doesn’t mean he will be able to replicate half of these, but his presence in the team will boost a lot of confidence.
But former teammate, Pique thinks this is not a good move by Barcelona as Messi might be the same as the previous one.
