Spanish great Gerard Pique slipped and fell down a hole at an event as he attempted to sign a shirt for a fan.
Pique appeared to be engrossed to a voice note he was apparently listening to on his phone when he fell off a stage.
The incident happened in Mexico at the launch of the King League Americas, a newly introduced version of the seven-a-side tournament that he brought on board in 2022.
After a presentation was done, Gerard Pique approached a fan who was hoisting a shirt, and the Spanish footballer was holding a phone to his ear.
Unfortunately, before the former Manchester United defender could get to the fan, he sunk into a ditch present by the stage.
Reports indicate that the ditch he fell into was above two meters deep, with the defender who has a height of 6 feet 4 inches totally disappearing when he slumped into it.
Anyway, subsequent reports have claimed that he was unharmed following the fall, much to the relief of his fans.
Gerard Pique even made fun of the incident, joking it was a “magic trick” on social media.
Following the incident which generated buzz across different platforms, several fans took to social media to poke fun at Pique.

Some fans linked it to his divorce with music star and former partner Shakira, terming it as “Karma”.
Others joked that the “Waka Waka” star would soon release a diss track to taunt Gerard Pique over the fall.
Pique and Shakira confirmed their split on June 4, 2022, and it definitely shocked many across the world.

Gerard Pique and Shakira met at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but they confirmed their relationship status in May 2011.
However, as aforementioned about a decade later, their relationship ended in 2022. They have two sons together, namely; Milan and Sasha.
Pique retired from football in November 2022, and he received a red card in his final match for the club – a 2-1 victory for Barcelona over Osasuna.
The Spaniard is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation, due to his immense abilities in defense during his playing days.
