Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal has criticized Yerry Mina of Everton for acting inappropriately toward him during their friendly match last week.
Jesus completed a £45 million transfer from Premier League champions Manchester City to the north Londoners this summer. Since joining the Gunners, the Brazilian has scored three goals, having an immediate effect on Mikel Arteta’s team.
His new colleagues have lauded the Brazilian, calling Jesus a “wonderful man” and someone with “incredible potential.” Despite being involved in an altercation with an Everton player during the game, Jesus scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Frank Lampard’s team.
Jesus scored the opening goal as the Gunners defeated the Ravens 2-0.
But during the game, Jesus got embroiled in a slightly less pleasant incident when the large Toffees center-back confronted him.
In the unpleasant part of an otherwise amusing game, Mina made several hostile gestures in his direction.
‘You know what, I have played with Mina before in Palmeiras,’ Jesus told TNT Sports. ‘We were so close to each other.
‘Then, after, I don’t know why he started to attack me to do something like this on my chest and then talking s**t. I don’t know why.
‘I don’t know the reason for him to do this. At the end I am not a kid any more and I go straight to him as well. After we on the game and that’s all.’
Mina has a history of agitating opponents, notably Lionel Messi during a match between Colombia and Argentina in 2021.
On Sunday, September 11, when the Gunners visit Everton at the Emirates, Jesus will next go up against Mina.
The Brazilian scored several goals against the Toffees last week to win the game, and he will want to do the same in the Premier League.
