    Former Chelsea and Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien has completed his UEFA A License coaching course.

    The Black Stars’ legendary midfielder, Essien took to his social media to announce the accomplishment and expressed his delight as he bags the UEFA A License coaching certificate.

    The 40-year-old Ghanaian certified coach, Michael Essien, who hung his boot in 2020, has been actively pursuing a career in coaching following his retirement from professional football.

    Essien has been working as a coach at FC Nordsjaelland, where he has been helping to develop young talents.

    Meanwhile, the certified Ghanaian coach extended his gratitude to FC Nordsjaelland and Right to Dream Academy for supporting his dream over the last couple of years.

    He also extended his appreciation to his family, instructors, and everyone who contributed to the accomplishment of his new success.

    Essien wrote on Twitter: “Step by step, I am learning and growing as a coach. Happy to have completed my UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth A license. Thanks to the family, @fawales, my tutors, my mentor, and RTD/FCN for the support. And big thank you to Tom Vernon and Flemming Pedersen.”

    Ghanaians have congratulated Essien on his latest accomplishment and have expressed their hope that he will continue to make them proud as he develops his coaching techniques and inspires young footballers.

    Michael Kojo Essien is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder for the Black Stars.

    He was born on the 3rd of December 1982.
    During his prime, the former Blues star player, Essien was considered one of the best midfielders in the world.

    Michael Essien started his football career in his home country playing for Liberty Professionals in Ghana.

    He moved to the international level in 2000 when he joined Bastia in France and spent three seasons before joining Lyon in 2003.

    In 2005, Michael Essien switchferred to Premier League club Chelsea for a £24.4 million transfer fee and, at the time of his signing, the Ghanaian was the most expensive African footballer in history.

    Essien won the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in the 2011–12 season and also had spells with top teams like Real Madrid and AC Milan.

    He is currently a member of the coaching staff of the Danish Superliga club Nordsjælland which is in partnership with Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.

    With the obtainment of the UEFA A License, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea player, Essien has taken another step towards achieving his coaching career.

    The qualification will enable Essien to step up his coaching profession to a proficient level in Europe and other parts of the world.
