Former Bundesliga striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has predicted that this will be a big week in the transfer saga surrounding Bayern Munich midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, who is wanted by Liverpool.
Thiago had turned down a contract extension at the Allianz Arena. He is, therefore, ready to leave for a new challenge after entering the final year of his contract. This also placed the Reds on alert on the Spaniard who wanted to experience the Premier League.
Although Liverpool is yet to make a firm move to sign the midfielder from the Bundesliga giant, Manchester United have also explored a potential deal.
But Fjortoft believes that the coming week will throw up something decisive over Thiago’s future, which is still up in the air.
“Decisive week coming up. In terms of making an immediate impact, this could be this transfer window’s best signing”, he said on Twitter.

Thiago was part of Bayern Munich historic treble squad last season. But what looked to be holding off a bid for the creative midfielder is believed to be the likely exit of Georginio Wijnaldum.
According to reports, Barcelona is interested in the Dutch midfielder, which could give him another opportunity to link up with the former Netherland coach, Ronald Koeman, who recently took over at Nou Camp.
It was, therefore, speculated that the Reds could need to sell before they can bring Thiago in.
Thiago, who joined Bayern in 2013 from Barcelona has so played 235 games in all competitions for the record champions.
I never said I am leaving Bayern Munich – Thiago Alcantara
Meanwhile, the Spaniard has surprised many with his comment at a press conference before the Nations League game against Ukraine.
When asked about his future, he denied a plan to leave the Bavarian giants.
“I never said that I would leave Bavaria,” Thiago suddenly said about his future.
This prompted the headlines from Bild asking why the midfielder is lying after he had reportedly told the club he is not renewing his contract.
