Former Barcelona star Cristian Tello has joined Saudi Arabia’s Pro League side Al Orobah on a permanent deal.
Renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Saturday, August 24 that the Spain international forward will sign a two-year contract with the Saudi Arabian club.
Romano announced the transfer on his X page, formerly Twitter, stating: “Cristian Tello, on his way now to Saudi Arabia as former Barça winger will join Al Orobah on two year contract.”
This unexpected move marks a new chapter in Tello’s career, as he joins the growing ranks of international stars in the Saudi Pro League.
The 33-year-old winger will bring his wealth of experience and skill to Al Orobah, having previously played for Barcelona, Porto, and Real Betis, among others.
Cristian Tello football career
The Spain international began his youth career at Barcelona, then moved to Espanyol where he played for the B team in 2008 before returning to Barcelona.
During his time at Barcelona, Tello made 39 appearances for the B team and 89 appearances for the senior team, where he played alongside Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and scored 20 goals with 14 assists.
Despite being a talented young forward, Tello struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team.
He went on loan to Porto and Fiorentina before joining Real Betis in 2017. During his five years at Real Betis, Tello made 172 appearances and scored 24 goals.
On August 26, 2022, Tello inked a three-year agreement with Los Angeles FC, boasting one of the highest salaries in Major League Soccer at $1.78 million.
He later transferred to Al Fateh SC in Saudi Arabia on January 25, 2023, signing an 18-month contract.
Atletico Madrid Reach Agreement to Sign Juan Musso on Loan from Atalanta
Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal in principle with Atalanta to sign goalkeeper Juan Musso on loan, with a buy clause that will become mandatory under certain conditions.
The transfer is on hold until Atalanta secure a new goalkeeper to replace Musso, who will then be able to join the Spanish team.
Reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed this report today, August 24 on his X account.
Romano wrote: “Atlético Madrid agree deal in principle with Atalanta to sign Juan Musso on loan with buy clause to become mandatory under certain conditions.”
“Waiting for Atalanta’s replacement and then, here we go.”
Musso, who joined Atalanta in 2021, has been an integral part of the team, including their triumphant 2023-24 UEFA Europa League campaign, where they defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the final.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper will bring his expertise and experience to Atlético Madrid, bolstering their goalkeeping options.
Juan Musso football career
The Argentine goalkeeper showcased his skills at Defensores de Belgrano de Villa Ramallo where he clinched the local championship at just 16 years old.
His heroics in the final, saving three penalties in the shoot-out, impressed many.
Musso later had stints at Racing Club where he won Argentine Primera División championship, the team’s first title in 13 years in 2014.
He joined Serie A side Udinese making 102 appearances in the league before joining Atalanta in 2021 where he won the 2023–24 UEFA Europa League.
