Federico Valverde has revealed his desire to lead and said that he wishes to become the captain of Real Madrid in the future.
Valverde, 25, has gone on to become a vital player at the Santiago Bernabeu following his arrival from Uruguayan outfit Penarol in 2018.
The Uruguayan international has gone on to make 213 appearances across competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists.
With Real Madrid, Fede has won the UEFA Champions League, two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Madrid star Federico Valverde has also revealed that he is aiming at another ambition at the Spanish club side.
Valverde said: “It’s my 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 to become Real Madrid captain, I hope one day…”
“That would be an insane and amazing feeling for me, as was when I wore the Uruguay’s captain armband”.
Federico Valverde also dropped praises for other Madrid players like Modric, Kroos, and Dani Carvajal – who are the team’s captain.
Federico Valverde added: “Here I always try to learn from Modrić, Carvajal, Kroos. They’re our captains… our mirrors. Being Real Madrid captain would be a dream.”
Recall we reported that the player once praised Liverpool in June stating that he was a fan as a kid and Luis Suarez was his hero.
While speaking in an interview with Daily Mail, he said “Uruguayans tend to support the team that has a Uruguayan in it. At that moment, because Luis was at Liverpool, we supported Luis. “
“I wanted things to go well for him, I will always do that with a team that has a Uruguayan.”
Federico Valverde further added: “It happens with [Edinson] Cavani at Manchester United now too.”
Federico Valverde went on to add: “I want United to win and for him to score goals. That year pretty much the whole country supported Liverpool”.
However, the revelation of his ambition, means that he intends to remain at Madrid and fight for his place regardless of the midfield depth.
Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is brimming with midfield talent including Valverde, Kroos, Modric, Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Valverde in the post-match conference said: “Premier League offers? I have the ability to play for Real. The day I don’t feel like that, I’m probably going to look for another solution or Real itself will look for one for me.”
