Faisal Halim: A Malaysian Footballer Suffers Second Degree Burn After He Got Splashed by Acid

A Malaysian national team player, Faisal Halim, suffered a horrible second-degree burn after he got splashed with acid in an attack at a shopping center.

The Malaysian footballer was burned on the neck, shoulder, hands, and chest during the attack that happened on May 6, 2024, outside the capital Kuala Lumper.

A photo of the Malaysian footballer went viral, visibly showing the player in brown trousers seated on a bench with burn marks on his body.

The player is currently in stable condition, and he is being treated in a private hospital in the community where the incident occurred.

After the incident, the player’s football club, Selangor, released an official statement saying, “I strongly condemn this violence and urge the police to bring the perpetrator to justice.”

After a proper investigation was taken into consideration regarding the attack, it was revealed that a male suspect had been captured, but the police failed to disclose his name.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect managed to say “good luck” before pouring the acid on the football star.

The reason for committing the horrible crime is not known yet, but the Malaysian FA needs to put in proper measures to protect their players.

This attack came three days after another Malaysian national team player, Akhyar Rashid, was severely injured in a robbery that occurred outside his house in the eastern state of Terregganu.

Rashid was struck with two iron rods by two unknown men. The Malaysian suffered injuries to his head and leg that required stitches.

The local police at the community where the footballer was attacked for robbery said the two suspected criminals fled the scene and took Rashid’s money away.

The President of the Malaysian Football Association had reacted to the incident, saying he was angry and upset over both attacks. 

In addition, he said, “The people of Malaysia pray that Akhyar and Faisal recover quickly and get back to action.”

Who Is Faisal Halim?

The player was born on January 7, 1998, in the city of Penang, Malaysia. He is currently 26 years old, with a height of 5 feet and 2 inches. He currently plays for a Malaysian football club called Selangor.

The attacker started his youth career at Penang U19. After that, he moved to Sri Pahang in 2016, where he made 60 appearances, scoring six goals in all competitions.

After spending four years at Sri Pahang, he proceeded to play for Terengganu. He made 42 appearances, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

In 2023, the attacker joined Selangor. He had been an important player in the squad, scoring 11 goals in 23 appearances this season.

For the Malaysian national team, the attacker made 32 appearances, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.
