FA Cup 5th round fixtures are out: here are all you need to know

The football authorities in England have released the full fixtures for the 2021-2022 FA Cup 5th round which will commence from February 28 to March 2022.

The draw for the fifth round proper took place twenty minutes before Liverpool vs Cardiff City FA Cup 4th round game which was played today, February 6, 2022. The game ended 3-1 in favor of Liverpool.

In the draw, the current Premier League table leaders Manchester City have been paired to take on Peterborough United. The encounter is scheduled to take place on March 2, 2022. It is scheduled to kick off at 20:45 on the said date.

Recall that Manchester City defeated Championship table leaders Fulham in the 4th round of the FA Cup while Peterborough defeated QPR to book a date with Manchester City.

While Chelsea that managed to beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 after regular time, are paired to face Luton Town in the FA Cup 5th round. The fixture is expected to take place on March 2, 2022, at 20:45.

In the case of Middlesbrough which stunned the world by knocking out Manchester United from the FA Cup on Saturday will face Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round on March 2, 2022.

While the only non-league side left in the competition, Boreham Wood have been paired to confront Everton if they succeed in beating Bournemouth in the fourth round later tonight.

As for Southampton, the Premier League side have been paired with another Premier League side, West Ham United. While Crystal Palace that knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup will confront Stoke City in the 5th round.

Leicester City which defeated Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup last season will continue to defend their title later today. They are expected to knock out Nottingham Forest to book a place in the FA Cup 5th round. Once they knock out Forest, they will face Huddersfield Town in the 5th round.

The 2021–2022 FA Cup is the 141st season of the oldest football tournament in the world. The winners of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2022–2023 UEFA Europa League group stage.

As usual, the prestigious Wembley Stadium will host the final of the FA Cup. In this season, the final of the tournament is scheduled to take place on May 14, 2022.
