Exeter City forward Jevani Brown has admitted to attacking a woman

A footballer has confessed to attacking a woman in a city center and faces trial on a supposed second assault. 

Exeter City forward Jevani Brown on Thursday admitted to being guilty of assaulting a female casualty in February 2023.

The English League One side attacker is facing litigation after he refuted the claims of him attacking a second woman during the same time. 

Jevani Brown got into the pleas in the course of a hearing at Exeter Magistrates’ Court today, March 24 and no information of the incident on February 2 were revealed.

Brown is the second top goal scorer for Exeter City and he was dropped by the English League One club after his indictment. 

He would now be unavailable for the remainder of the campaign as the matter against him is still ongoing. 

The English born Jamaican International started his footballing career at MK Don’s before he penned a deal with Peterborough United. 

He has also played at Colchester United and Cambridge United before he was acquired by the English League One side in 2021.

Jevani Brown is Exeter City’s leading scorer this campaign with 14 goals and 9 assists in all competitions and via a statement put out today, the club stated: “Jevani Brown appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court this morning in relation to an incident in February.

“He pleaded guilty to one charge of assault and not guilty to a second charge of assault.

“A trial date has now been set to hear the case at Exeter Crown Court on July 7.

“As the legal proceedings remain active there will be no further comment from Exeter City Football Club.”

Brown is 28 years old and he plays primarily as a striker but he could also function as an attacking midfielder, his club Exeter City sit 13th on the Premier League table and they are faraway from promotion to the Championship.

The Englishman was born in Letchworth, England and he was the English Football League Two Player Of The Month in November 2020.

Jevani Brown has scored 75 goals in 331 appearances for various clubs he has played for in his career, a career that has spanned over 10 years. 

For Exeter City, since his arrival on the 29th of June in 202, he has scored 19 goals in 70 matches for the English club. 

The 2022/23 English League One season has been scheduled to end on the 7th of May, with the play-off finals holding on the 29th of May 2023.

Jonson Clarke-Harris of Peterborough United is the top goal scorer in the 2022/23 English League One campaign with 22 goals to his name, four goals ahead of second placed Colby Bishop of Portsmouth who is on 18 goals.
