Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe took to his Instagram page recently to share a picture collage of himself and his younger brother, Ethan Mbappe. In the picture, the two brothers made a similar gesture while celebrating a goal.
Kylian Mbappe and Ethan Mbappe are both footballers. They are both contracted to PSG. Kylian plays for the club’s senior team while Ethan plays for the club’s youth team.
Over the years, whenever Kylian Mbappe scores a goal, he would fold his hands around his chest and slide on the pitch. This has been his trademark celebration both at PSG and in France’s national team.
On Sunday, Mbappe proved that the celebration is not exclusive to him by showing his Instagram followers that Ethan also uses the gesture to celebrate when he scores.
Reports claimed that Mbappe and Ethan came up with the gesture when they were playing a Play Station game. From the living room of their parents, the two football stars have taken the celebration to the pitch.
The differences and similarities between Kylian Mbappe and Ethan Mbappe
The major similarity between Kylian Mbappe and Ethan is that they are both brothers. Another similarity is that they are both contracted to PSG and they started their football career at a very young age.
Reports claimed that Ethan has been a member of PSG’s football youth system since he was 12-year-old. On July 1, 2021, PSG decided to offer the 14-year-old youngster a three-year youth deal which will expire on June 30, 2024.
As for Kylian Mbappe, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has been a player of PSG since 2017. Ethan was at Parc Des Princes when the French club unveiled Kylian.
The major difference between the two players is that Kylian plays as a striker but Ethan plays majorly as a midfielder. He has the speed of Kylian, but it is believed that the 14-year-old football youngster is very skilled in ball distribution.
In an interview with a French outlet, L’Equipe, Kylian Mabppe said Ethan would have a different pressure. According to the 22-year-old French striker, the pressure Ethan could face might be centered around the fact that he is his younger brother.
“I tell him: ‘stay calm!’ But he is calm”, Kylian said. “I am the older one! It is the story of life but he is completely different to me, whether that is in his attitude, his character, his game. He needs to follow his path. But he will have something that I did not have: the pressure of a name. He will have to make a name for himself through his first name. The problem is that we have a similar face and people think we are the same!
“My brother will have different pressure. For me, it was the pressure of a match, a ‘positive’ pressure. Ethan will surely deal with a more ‘negative’ pressure, of the kind: ‘You are Kylian’s brother.’ Me, I had the pressure of being on the big stage quickly. He will have to face a certain excess. My role is also to help him follow his path. I do not want him in my footsteps whilst also wishing him the best.”
