German Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund have taken to their social media platforms to celebrate their players – Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels, and Jude Bellingham who bagged awards at the German Players’ Association awards.
Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels were voted into the 2020-2021 German Bundesliga team of the season. While Jude Bellingham who joined Borussia Dortmund ahead of the 2020-2021 season was given the newcomer award.
The 18-year-old English center midfielder who is a product of the Birmingham youth system won the ‘Silver Arrow’ award ahead of Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirth of Bayer Leverkusen.
Since the youngster joined Borussia Dortmund last season, he has played 56 times in which he scored 6 goals and provided 9 assists.
His form has been so good and consistent that England national team coach, Gareth Southgate included him in his Euro 2020 team that got to the final of the tournament.
Jude Bellingham’s contract with Dortmund will expire in June 2025. His current market value is €55 million.
As for Mats Hummels, the 32-year-old German center-back played a prominent role in helping Borussia Dortmund to win the DFB-Pokal at the end of the 2020-2021 season.
The veteran defender has been moving between Dortmund and Bayern Munich in most parts of his football career. However, he decided to settle down fully at Dortmund on July 1, 2019, when Dortmund paid Bayern €30.50 million for his services.
Mats Hummels’ current contract with Dortmund will expire on June 30, 2023. The market value of the 32-year-old defender is €12 million.
As for Erling Haaland, the 21-year-old Norwegian striker has been unstoppable since he joined Borussia Dortmund on January 1, 2020, from RB Salzburg for just €20 million.
His prolific form has earned him the Golden Boy award and he is already seen as a Ballon d’Or contended due to his goalscoring prowess.
Just between 2020 and 2021, Erling Haaland has scored a whopping 68 goals and provided 19 assists in 67 games in all competitions for Dortmund.
While congratulating Erling Haaland, Mats Hummels, and Jude Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund wrote in German via Instagram that: @aussenrist15 and @erling.haaland were voted into the team of the season by their professional VDV colleagues, @judebellingham as the newcomer of the season.
Other players in the German Bundesliga team of the season are Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München), Ridle Baku (VfL Wolfsburg), Angelino (RB Leipzig), Alphonso Davies (FC Bayern München), and Thomas Müller (FC Bayern München).
Others are Joshua Kimmich (FC Bayern München), Leon Goretzka (FC Bayern München), Robert Lewandowski (FC Bayern München), and Andre Silva (Eintracht Frankfurt).
