Premier League champions Manchester City have officially announced the signing of one of the best strikers in the world, Erling Haaland. He has officially put pen to paper for a five-year deal with Man City.

Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on a £51m deal and has completed every other process in the transfer. Man City has already revealed in May that Erling Haaland will be joining them for the next season’s campaign.

Haaland has been one of the most sought-after forwards during his days at Borussia Dortmund. Clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Barcelona, and PSG have once tried to sign the Norwegian striker but didn’t work. Instead, he signed for Manchester City, a team his father once played for.

In his first interview with the Premier League club’s official website, Haaland said; “This is a proud day for me and my family. I have always watched Man City and have loved doing so in recent seasons.

“You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me. There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfill my ambitions.

“I want to score goals, win trophies, and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me, and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”

The Premier League champions have played without a traditional striker for a while now, especially during the 2021-2022 season. This was after Sergio Aguero left the club as a legend to Barcelona. However, he was forced to retire after a heart problem.

After the departure of Sergio Aguero, Man City fought to sign current Tottenham Hotspur and England captain Harry Kane but their offers were rejected.

The rise of Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland came into the limelight during a Champions League game at Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.

He went on to play 88 games for Borussia Dortmund, scoring a total of 85 goals.

The 21-year-old Norwegian striker has always been a Manchester City fan from childhood as his father, Alf Inge played for Manchester City years back.

Man City director of football Txiki Begiristain said; “Erling has everything we want in a striker, and we are certain he will excel in this squad and this system.

“His rise has been remarkable, but he is still only 21. His best years are ahead of him, and we are confident he can get even better working with Pep.

“This is a very exciting signing for our club, and I am sure our fans will enjoy watching Erling perform in this team.”
