Erik ten Hag has reacted to the investigation by FA on Alejandro Garnacho over his ‘racist’ post on teammate Andre Onana.

ten Hag confirmed that Manchester United have contacted FA Football over Alejandro Garnacho’s social media post that has stirred reactions.

Garnacho used two gorilla emojis alongside a picture of Andre Onana to celebrate the goalkeepers’ last-gasp save against FA Copenhagen in the Champions League

The FA have been in contact with United to ask for Garnacho’s observations over the X post, which he subsequently deleted. Onana took to Instagram on Thursday night to say he knew what the 19-year-old meant and that the matter should go no further.

It should be recalled former Man United forward Edinson Cavani and Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva have both been banned for social media posts in the past and United are now waiting to hear whether Garnacho will be charged by the FA.

Ten Hag said that hadn’t happened just yet and that the winger remained available for selection for this weekend’s Manchester derby against City.

“Not in this moment, we are talking with the FA, what you see, I can confirm that and I want to emphasise we are together, we are united, you saw that with the post of Andre,” he said.
