Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag has stated that the English Premier League giants need to sign more players if they want to stand a chance of competing for titles next season.
According to the former Ajax head coach, Man United is not strong enough to start the season next month and he’s heavily interested in signing his former striker, £70million-rated Antony. The Dutch manager admitted that their Premier League rivals; Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur all have a better advantage because of the number of new players they have signed.
Erik ten Hag speaking during a press conference in Perth ahead of United’s final tour game in Australia tomorrow, July 23, 2022, against Aston Villa, stressed the importance of making more signings this summer.
“You need more options in offense”, he said. “I think it’s vital [United sign more players] if you want to get success because the season is long. But we also have time to fill that in.”
He added that it could’ve been better if the new signings are currently training with them at the pre-season tour but they are not, which is a situation they have to deal with.
Erik ten Hag also revealed that their new signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are waiting for them in Manchester and he believes they can quite quickly integrate into the team. He also acknowledged the fact that the season will be filled with a lot of games including the 2022 FIFA World Cup competition coming up in November.

Meanwhile, Man United are having an amazing run in the pre-season tour after winning their last three games comfortably.
United kicked off the tour with a 4-0 surprise win over arch-rivals Liverpool. Erik ten Hag and his boys continue the fine performance in the following games. These performances are coming without their star player Cristiano Ronaldo who’s yet to join the squad.
The Portuguese player is still in his country after stating that he has some family issues to settle. However, this is coming following his recent desire to leave Man United this summer.
The five times Ballon d’Or winner had requested to leave the club if an offer comes in for him. It’s believed that he wants to continue playing in the UEFA Champions League next season and Man United didn’t qualify for the competition.
Although Erik ten Hag has made it clear that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is searching for a new club for the 37-year-old football icon.
