Erik Ten Hag feels Marcus Rashford and Manchester United “will find each other” in the attacker’s continuous contract talks.
Marcus Rashford has netted 29 goals across all competitions for his boyhood team this campaign, a tally which is the Mancunian best in the colors of Manchester United.
Rashford is still a doubt for Saturday’s visit to the Vitality stadium because of illness, in spite of him returning to training activities earlier in the week.
He was unavailable for the home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers which saw Manchester United defeat Julen Lopetegui’s men by 2-0 with goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho.
In an interview ahead of the visit to Bournemouth on Saturday, Erik Ten Hag was questioned to explain the contract situations concerning Rashford and the Old Trafford giants.
Erik Ten Hag said: “I know it is taking time. But I don’t talk about the process. This is not important at the moment for me or Rashy.
“For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season and the team is playing a wonderful season.
“We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that.
“Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other.”
The England International has been instrumental for Manchester United this campaign including the side to their first trophy in almost 6 years in February.
Carlos Henrique and Marcus Rashford scored two quick fire goals which made the Red Devils come out victorious in the Carabao Cup final.
Erik Ten Hag’s side are still in the battle to cement their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League and the unavailability of Marcus Rashford definitely is a big blow.
He seemingly wasn’t missed in the previous game against Wolverhampton Wanderers but none can tell the kind of battle Bournemouth might bring to the table.
The English side sit one spot and one point ahead of Liverpool with a game outstanding in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
Two wins from their remaining three matches would all-but seal their position in the top-four.
Erik Ten Hag expressed that his side have to remain focused, saying: “I think we have to keep doing what we have all season.”
“Improve every day and improve every game and not look too far ahead.
“Focusing on the next game is the most important.”
Marcus Rashford is in line for a salary increase on his present £200,000 per week contract if he agrees to extend his current contract.
According to reports, Manchester United have pegged a maximum of £300,000 per week on Rashford’s renewal.
Marcus Rashford has scored 127 goals and provided 68 assists in 370 games for Manchester United.
The market value of the Mancunian has been pegged at €80,000,000 and several clubs have over time been rumored to be eyeing the Englishman.
Notable clubs like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain have been reported to be interested in Rashford and his present contract with Manchester United comes to an end on the 30th of June, 2024.
