The Argentine shot-stopper once again played a crucial role in his team’s triumph, but just after La Albiceleste won the championship, he neglected to behave properly.

Emiliano Martinez may have played a key role for La Albiceleste during the entire tournament, but he still has a lot to learn about sportsmanship and how to develop as a person after a victory.

The Argentine football player had an incredible World Cup, solidifying his legacy with the South Americans by playing a crucial role in both of the team’s victories in penalty shootouts. Nevertheless, his post-game actions directed towards competitors have come under scrutiny.

Martinez stood forward to accept the Golden Glove as the top goalkeeper during the ceremony that followed the competition.

Martinez stepped down the platform shortly after winning the trophy and made the choice to celebrate in an unseemly way by holding the trophy up to his genitalia.

While some would argue that this was a reaction to the situation, Martinez was also referred to be a contentious player during and after the match against the Netherlands, where Dutch players claimed he insulted them while the match was in progress.

Martinez was seen on tape telling Louis Van Gaal he had “f***ed them twice” in reference to his two penalty saves, which was the cherry on top.

Take a look below at Martinez’s shabby behavior after getting his prize.

Emiliano Martínez

Damián Emiliano Martinez (born 2 September 1992), also known by the nick name “Dibu,” is an Argentine professional football goalkeeper who competes for both the Argentina national team and Premier League side Aston Villa.

Martinez received his early training with Independiente before switching to Arsenal in 2010.

He served as an understudy at Arsenal and was loaned out to a number of English clubs before making his debut in the starting lineup in 2019. He played for Arsenal in the Premier League and contributed to their FA Cup and FA Community Shield victories in 2019.

Arsenal sold Martinez to rival Premier League team Aston Villa for £20 million in September 2020.

He maintained a club record 15 Premier League clean sheets throughout his first season with the team.

Martínez previously competed for Argentina at the under-17 and under-20 levels as a young international.

He won the Golden Glove award, kept a clean sheet in the Copa América, months after he received his first senior cap for the men’s national team in 2021. He also assisted his country in winning the Copa América that year.

Emiliano Martínez later won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he also received the Golden Glove award for his efforts there.

How Martinez Helped Argentina

Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to win the World Cup on Sunday after a tight 3-3 stalemate following extra time.

Mbappe, though, calmly converted another penalty in the 117th minute to complete an amazing hat-trick and score the tournament’s highest-scoring goal, so the drama was far from finished.

In the shootout, he and Messi both made the first pair of free throws, but after that they were left to wait as their teammates chose their fate.

After Kingsley Coman’s penalty was saved and Aurelien Tchouameni missed the goal, Argentina won their third global championship overall and their first since 1986.
