Done Deal: Real Betis Finalize Hector Bellerin’s Return

Real Betis have reportedly succeeded in bringing former Arsenal’s defender Hector Bellerin back to the club.

Hector Bellerin, who recently left Barcelona to join Sporting CP, is now poised to make a comeback to Spain, this time with another one of his previous clubs according to Fabrizio Romano.

During the 2021/22 season, Bellerin was loaned from Arsenal to Real Betis.

Throughout his time at Real Betis, he participated in 23 La Liga matches.

Meanwhile, Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has been working relentlessly to bring Bellerin back to the Estadio Benito Villamarin following his successful loan spell at the club during the 2021/22 season.

The versatile full-back signed a short-term deal with Sporting Lisbon during the second half of last season and was not affiliated with any club before Real Betis showed interest in him.

Bellerin has reportedly agreed on a long-term deal with Betis, believed to be for five years.

And according to reports by Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 28-year-old Spaniard has completed his medicals today, July 17 and he’s unveiled as the latest Real Betis signing.

The deal involves the release of striker Loren Moron from his contract to free up salary funds for the signing of Bellerin on a free transfer.

Real Betis’ fans see Bellerin as a valuable player due to his attacking style and genuine affection for the club.

After participating in just seven matches for Barcelona during the first half of the 2022/23 season, Bellerin is eager to secure a starting position when he starts the season with Real Betis.

Bellerin’s return to a familiar environment, coupled with the opportunity to work under a management that values his skills, could help him to regain his best form.

He is renowned for his skills as a right-back or wing-back and lastly played for the Primeira Liga club, Sporting CP.

At Arsenal, he participated in a total of 239 games across various competitions, winning three FA Cups and two FA Community Shields.

On 31 August 2021, Bellerín returned to Spain after a decade, joining Real Betis on a season-long loan. He made his debut in La Liga 13 days later, in a 2–1 win at Granada.

Additionally, during his loan spell at Real Betis, he also secured a Copa del Rey title. He arrived back to FC Barcelona in September 2022.

Bellerín joined Sporting CP, a Primeira Liga club, on January 31, 2023. He made his debut six days later as a late substitute in a 1-0 win at Rio Ave.

Bellerín represented Spain at the international level, participating in various age groups ranging from under-16 to under-21.

In 2016, he made his senior debut for Spain and was subsequently selected to participate in the European Championship of the same year.
