Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona president has insisted that his club have a better team than bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The Catalan president believes Barcelona are better than the 14 times UEFA Champions League-winning club and he is delighted with the business his club have been doing so far.

So far in the summer transfer window, the La Blaugrana have secured two signings, acquiring former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, Barcelona missed out on their priority target, Lionel Messi, who joined Major League Soccer Club Inter Miami due to the club’s financial crisis.

Real Madrid led by Carlo Ancelotti, on the other hand, have been more active in the current transfer window securing the acquisition of Fenerbahce midfielder Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

However, Los Blancos have also lost their star striker Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabia Pro League.

Despite missing out on bringing Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou, Juan Laporta is optimistic that his club is more competent than Real Madrid.

The president insisted that Barca have a better squad and that they are more ambitious.

During his interview with ESPN Joan Laporta said: “We have a better team than Madrid and, individually, we are also better with a certain difference from our rivals”.

Joan Laporta also stated that he’s pleased with the deals they have done in the transfer window and further backs Barcelona to win the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona appear to have a formidable squad on paper, but time will tell if Laporta is correct. They strengthened their midfield and defense with the addition of former Manchester City captain and the aforementioned Real Sociedad player.

They will be a serious threat in La Liga and the Champions League if they can maintain their good form and enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

Every club member and supporter will be very assured of what the team are building. FC Barcelona won the Spanish La Liga last season and they can continue to practice superiority in this tournament next season.

Barcelona will only focus on making a good team over signing individuals, they have secured the acquisition of two players so far, and these two will add a lot to the overall performance of the team.

Joan Laporta became the president of Barcelona having been elected for the second time in March 2021, following the dismissal of Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The 61-year-old Spanish International previously served as the club’s president between 2003 and 2010 and is the most successful president in terms of trophies won per year.

Barcelona had a great season during their Spanish La Liga campaign last season, winning the League title but were nowhere to be found in the UEFA Champions League.

They were disqualified from the group stage and later got eliminated by Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League play off.

    What’s next for FC Barcelona?

The current La Liga team led by head coach Xavi Hernandez will return to training in the coming weeks and will begin their pre-season preparation in the United States before the 2023/2024 Spanish La Liga season kick-off.
