Done Deal: Augsburg Unveil Tim Breithaupt As Their New Signing

Augsburg have officially announced the acquisition of German professional footballer Tim Breithaupt from Karlsruher SC.

Although the specific transfer fee was not disclosed by either side, Germany’s Kicker Magazine reported that the two clubs agreed on a purchase price of approximately €2.5 million.

According to the report, the 21-year-old Tim Breithaupt has signed a long-term contract with Augsburg, which will be valid until June 30, 2028.

Despite his young age of only 21, Breithaupt has already made an impressive 63 appearances for Karlsruher since his debut for the club in 2021 against Würzburger Kickers.

The German defensive midfielder said his primary goal was to advance in his career and he firmly believes that FC Augsburg is the perfect place for him to achieve that.

Breithaupt said: “Having had conversations with both management and the head coach, I am filled with a great sense of anticipation for the upcoming season.”

“I am eagerly looking forward to stepping onto the pitch and getting acquainted with my new teammates.”

Augsburg also expressed their delight in Tim Breithaupt’s decision to join the Bundesliga team, especially considering the various other offers he had.

Stefan Reuter, the director for sport at FCA, said: “We are really pleased that despite a number of other offers Tim Breithaupt decided to move to Augsburg.”

He added: “We are acquiring a midfielder who excels in defense, possesses strong build-up skills, and displays remarkable composure when in possession of the ball.”

Reuter concluded by expressing his confidence in Tim Breithaupt’s ability to quickly adapt to the high level of competition in the Bundesliga.

He noted that Breithaupt is already very mature for his age and possesses exceptional potential, which will undoubtedly bring a lot of joy to the fans.

Reuter said: “Tim Breithaupt is already very mature for his age and has extremely high potential, so I am sure that he will get accustomed to the high level in the Bundesliga quickly and will provide our fans with a lot of joy.”

During the previous season, Breithaupt made 24 appearances for Karlsruher in various competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

However, the 21-year-old player was unable to participate in any matches from matchday 23 onwards due to a fractured ankle, which resulted in him being sidelined.

Obviously, Augsburg have demonstrated prompt and astute decision-making this summer, as evidenced by the acquisition of Breithaupt, their fourth signing of the transfer window.

The German International youngster is accompanied by Sven Michel, a former striker for Union Berlin, as well as Finn Dahmen from Mainz and Patric Pfeiffer, who achieved promotion to the Bundesliga with Darmstadt in the previous season.
