Derrick Jones of Houston Dynamo is heading to Charlotte FC

    Houston Dynamo is making moves this season so they can improve from the 0-1-2 record of this 2022 MLS season and they have decided to traded Derrick Jones and $50,000 (2023 General Allocation Money (GAM) to Charlotte FC in exchange for $250,000 in 2022 GAM.

    It appears that Houston Dynamo needs the cash to do a big deal this season, the club is probably looking to bring in a new and better quality player, as a result, they need cap space.

    “Houston Dynamo FC traded midfielder Derrick Jones and $50,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM) to Charlotte FC in exchange for $250,000 in 2022 GAM, the clubs announced today. The Dynamo will receive 20 percent of any future transfer fee outside of Major League Soccer.   

    Jones was acquired by the Dynamo on Jan. 21, 2021, in a trade with Nashville SC. He appeared in 20 games for the Dynamo and tallied an assist last season.

    The midfielder made 18 appearances with nine starts in Nashville’s expansion campaign in 2020. The former U.S. youth international is a product of the Philadelphia Union Academy and began his career with the Union in 2017.
