It is not the best of times for the Blues as the club is now saddled with the highest number of injured players in the Premier League. This has prompted them to launch a review into the practices used by the club’s medical department.

New Chelsea manager Graham Potter has lost 11 players to injury this season, and this has been a factor in the club’s subpar performance in all competitons so far.

The Blues have managed just one win in their last nine Premier League matches after suffering a miserable 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage in the West London Derby. A new loan signing from Atletico Madrid Joao Felix bagged a red card and was sent off on his debut.

Joao Felix flashed his brilliance but later turned a nightmare for the club after a reckless high challenge on Tete earned him a straight red card, forcing his teammates to play with one man less.

Goals from Willian and Vinicius ensured Kalidou Koulibaly’s goal was not enough to earn the Blues a point. Joao Felix who was signed to prop up the Blues attack amid the club’s worsening injury crisis is now facing a three-match suspension.

Meanwhile, Denis Zakaria picked up an injury at Craven Cottage, and was forced to be subbed off by Graham Potter. Denis Zakaria’s injury was another significant blow to the club’s injury woes.

The youngster has now joined Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kante, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Edouard Mendy on the sidelines.

Chelsea’s injury is now the highest in the Premier League this season, and this has contributed to the team’s struggles.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea have launched a review into the medical department as concerns over the rate of injuries in the club mounts.

Graham Potter has struggled to bring Chelsea back to winning ways and club owner Todd Boehly is reportedly backing the manager despite the poor run of results.

Westley Fofana played only four games before being sidelined

Todd Boehly and the consortium he represents reportedly believe injuries are the biggest factor holding back Potter currently. After taking over the club, Chelsea was rocked with massive changes.

Todd Boehly shuffled and brought massive changes to the club, including changes in the medical department.

Medical chief Paco Biosca and head of physio Thierry Laurent were both relieved of their duty.

Todd Boehly and his consortium decided to outsource some of the medical work to a private physiotherapy company. After signing Fofana from Leicester City, he was flowned to America for medicals as a result of the strange changes in the medical department effected by Todd Boehly.

Even Graham Potter have admitted being frustrated with the reccuring injury problems, although some players are set next month.

Hence, the club are willing to get to the bottom of the problem by taking a deeper look at the club’s medical department to help resolve the lingering injury crisis.

Chelsea will face Crystal Palace in their next game, and they have a crucial Champions knockout tie against Borussia Dortmund. Hence, the review is necessary to get things right and forestall such a massive exodus of key players through injury.
