Dele Alli has been slammed by the president of Besiktas Ahmet Nur Cebi after his horrendous spell on loan at the Turkish club came to an end.
The 27-year-old joined Besiktas on loan from Everton in the summer of 2022 and with the belief that he can get his career back on track.
However, things haven’t turned out as he would have wanted as Dele Alli scored just 3 goals in 15 appearances for the Black Eagles.
His future now hangs in the balance and the England International will now return to the Goodison park this summer prior to when he will decide his next chapter in football.
Anyway, a return to the Vodafone park in Istanbul wouldn’t be on the offing as he has been criticized by Ahmet Cebi.
In an interview with BeIN Sports, Cebi bashed Alli’s off the field action after the Englishman was seen in the proximity of laughing gas canisters.
The president of Besiktas claimed the club didn’t get what they thought they would get when they put pen-to-paper on the loan deal.
Ahmet Cebi spoke about Dele Alli as a player and as a person
Ahmet Nur Cebi then went on a rage speaking about Alli as a player and as an individual.
He was happy to see that the loan spell of the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has come to an end.
The Besiktas President said:
“He was a player we were very excited about when he came.
“He won’t come back. We didn’t get what we expected from him. I hope he recovers as a human.”
Dele Alli looks to be facing serious off-the-field issues in recent years and his drop in form since representing Tottenham has been rapid.
His career trajectory to the down side after playing for Tottenham Hotspur in a Champions League final and England in a World Cup semi-final is worrisome.
The 27-year-old’s deal with Everton runs until the summer of 2024 and he earns £100,000 per week.
The Toffees could pay £40 million to Spurs if Dele Alli returns to the incredible form he had whilst at Tottenham.
Alli would return to Merseyside to play under Sean Dyche, who should definitely give him an opportunity to strut his stuff.
Dyche said recently that the Englishman needed to better his behavior to get back to being a world beater in football.
He said: “Some of the stuff that’s been said and reported… he’s 27 and like other players knows certain things and what they should or shouldn’t be doing.”
The Everton boss also insisted that managers can only do much but they can’t control every aspect of a player’s life.
He said: “Forget about Everton for a minute, as a manager you can’t control everything they do in their lives.
Sean Dyche added: “You can only guide people with what you think is good for them and eventually they have choices. We recommend they make good choices.”
Dele Alli is yet to score any goal in 13 appearances for Everton since he joined the club in January 2022.
