On-loan Nottingham Forest goalie Dean Henderson has revealed he is out for the remaining matches of the season, after undergoing a surgery.
The Manchester United player, on loan at Nottingham Forest, has shared on social media to reveal the surgery, connected to a thigh injury, was successful.
His post reads: “Had surgery today on an ongoing issue,” Henderson said on Instagram. “I’m disappointed to miss the rest of the season but surgery went well and I will be back for pre-season.
“I will be supporting the boys for the remainder of the season!”
Dean Henderson is confident of coming back to fitness in time for pre-season, after his loan move with Nottingham Forest comes to an end.
The 26-year-old’s last two games with the tricky trees were relatively successful as he was the hero of a penalty shootout victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
He afterwards kept a clean sheet for Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.
The injury has kept him out of action since January, though, which shows he has featured in 20 games cumulatively in 2022/23.
The team tutored by Steve Cooper acquired Keylor Navas on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and he has slotted in perfectly.
Henderson penned a season long loan deal with the Reds back in the summer as they prepared for their comeback to the Premier League.
Prior to the injury, He played all but one of Forest’s league matches as he was ineligible to play against his parent side, Manchester United.
The goalkeeper was injured in the closing stages of the 2-0 home victory against Leicester City back in January.
Despite, he was able to finish the encounter, it was later established that he had sustained a grade two tear in his thigh, initially ruling him out for four to six weeks.
Henderson is expected to begin pre-season back with parent club Manchester United, although there has been rumours over his future in recent months.
Nottingham Forest have been linked with an interest in making his loan move permanent come next summer, with the deal expected to be made a priority.
Forest would have to battle competition from other Premier League teams though as the 26-year-old is said to be highly sought after due to his exploits in goal.
Dean Henderson is said to be on Tottenham Hotspur’s rader in their search for a new goalie that would take over from Hugo Lloris.
The Englishman made 29 appearances for Manchester United after he made his debut for the senior team of the Old Trafford club in August 2020.
Henderson is graduate of the youth team and he is an holder of two Guinness World Records titles.
He holds the Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest time to dress as a goalkeeper (football)’ with a time of 49.51 seconds and most football headed passes in one minute (team of two)’ (91 – with Jake Clarke-Salter).
