David de Gea and his wife, Edurne Garcia, pulled off a wedding surprise that left their guests talking long after the festivities ended.

Edurne, the wife of De Gea has revealed the guests were bundled into “vans” on their special day.

Edurne Garcia disclosed that during their wedding in 2023, they “kidnapped” friends and family.

In July 2023, the final month of his contract at Old Trafford, David De Gea, 33, got married to singer and presenter Edurne, 38.

Additionally, Edurne and David De Gea, who have a 3-year-old daughter named Yanay, had a surprise planned for their loved ones in addition to the awesome party, zip line, and cocktail party.

The wife of David De Gea reveals what went down at the wedding

Speaking on the Spanish show “El Hormiguero”, based on reports from MARCA, Edurne Garcia said: “My intention was to get married once in my life and I was clear that it had to be big and something that represented David and me.

“The ceremony, the cocktail party, and so on are very good, but after the cocktail party, I wanted it to be a surprise and that it was an unforgettable day for the guests.

“So, we did a kind of gymkhana and at dinner, during the desserts, I ‘kidnapped’ all the guests and put them in vans.”

Edurne, who represented Spain in Eurovision nine years ago, added: “There were like 20 kidnappers. I’m very playful, I like to play.

“I like escape rooms, I like people to have a good time. It’s true that I thought about myself and maybe the guests didn’t feel like it. But it is also true that they all had a great time.

“I ‘kidnapped’ them and took them to another place where I had prepared a gymkhana for them with games like ‘El comecocos’ (Pac Man) or ‘Fortnite’ for them to play.

“Then, after that yes, there was another fun fair that was the zip line and the foam party, which was an illusion that I had had all my life.”

Is De Gea still without a club?

His departure from Manchester United was confirmed on 8 July 2023, with the Spaniard exiting Manchester United, seventh in the club’s all-time appearance list, having played in 545 games in all competitions for the club.

David De Gea also kept 190 clean sheets for the Red Devils, surpassing Peter Schmeichel’s record of 180 clean sheets to become the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the club’s history.

Following his departure from Manchester United about a year ago, De Gea is still without a club.

Nowadays, he manages his esports team, plays padel, keeps fit, attends Manchester United Women’s games, and goes out to dinners with friends.

He made a significant fortune at United, where he was paid £375,000 a week from 2019 until 2023, so, understandably, he took some time off the round leather game to possibly consider his options, particularly after tying the knot with Edurne in the summer.

The Spanish goalie is currently concerned with providing a good life for his family, which is why, should he decide to join a Saudi Arabian team, he would probably want a high salary because it is unlikely that his family would follow him to the Middle East.

If David De Gea moves to the Pro League, wife Edurne would probably be taking flights to see her husband.

He hasn’t ruled out traveling to the United States to join an MLS team or joining one of the top teams in Europe, though the latter isn’t apparently seen as a top priority.

Meanwhile, De Gea has been linked with moves to several clubs, including; Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Newcastle.
