David Beckham had reportedly won a whopping £240 million legal battle against imposters, who have been advertising fake products under his DB Ventures brand online.
The former professional football player had been involved in a dozen of cases related to counterfeiters who were selling his designer gear under the cuff.
DB Ventures, which sees David’s name on clothing, fragrances, and accessories, was seeing a threat to its well-built brand after fraudsters started a business of creating counterfeits and were making tons of profit.
After multiple considerations, the Court decided to grant DB Ventures a permanent rights over anything carrying its brand name and freezed the asset of the imposters.
The court order also granted DB Ventures a motion for a default judgment against 44 of the defendants in the case, along with awarding £8,000 for every violation against Beckham’s platform.
The court had ordered the imposters, who are mostly in Asia, to stop selling the fake products and give up all profits they had made from the sales.
David Beckham seems to be extremely pleased with the decisions of the court to stop the imposters from creating more counterfeits and making a lot of profit from them.
According to different reports, DB Venture said, “Their sale poses a real threat to DBV’s brand and affects the sustainability of its business. It also affects individuals and companies who unwittingly purchase them.”
It was revealed that these products were being sold via well-recognized online markets like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy.
