Cristiano Ronaldo’s £53m luxury Paris hotel’s completion has been pushed back by four more years due to hefty construction delays.
The 38-year-old Portuguese skipper has been working on building a luxury hotel in the French capital but has seen his ambitious plans hit by some major problems.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s four-star hotel was due to open in Paris while he was still at Juventus in 2021 but the multi-million-pound project had been hit by a series of delays, which include the covid19 pandemic and a public inspection by Paris politicians.
According to Daily Mail report, construction work on the hotel has only recently begun.
The four-star luxury hotel is located on the left bank of the River Seine near the Austerlitz train station and it’s planned to accommodate 210 rooms, a rooftop bar, including a swimming pool, offering a picturesque view over the French capital.
It has been speculated that the hotel is not due to open until 2027, by which time the five-time Ballon d’Or holder may well have retired from his playing career.
Once opened, the Paris Hotel will be Ronaldo’s sixth hotel in the world and his first in France.
Cristiano Ronaldo already boasts five luxurious hotels with his partners the Pestana Hotel Group.
The former Real Madrid star has hotels in his home island of Madeira, Lisbon, New York, Madrid, and Marrakech.
His Paris hotel which is under construction is expected to be the largest of the Pestana CR7 brand hotels.
In addition, the Paris hotel is said to be part of an ambitious project called Austerlitz A7A8, which will extend the region into a multi-activity building including 700 parking spaces and 4,000 square meters of offices.
It will also include a business park and student residence as well as shops and 2,000 bicycle spaces.
As well as opening hotels with the Pestana Group and broadening his property empire with house and apartment purchases in Spain and Portugal in recent years, Ronaldo has also shifted into the hair transplant and gym business.
The Portuguese net worth has been estimated at 362 million pounds and his contract with the Saudi club, Al-Nassr is worth an eye-watering £175m a year.
The 38-year-old has been going through ups and downs since he moved to Saudi side Al-Nassr in January, signing a mega-deal that runs until 2025.
The Portuguese skipper does face an uncertain future in the Middle East after footage showed him grabbing his crotch toward fans shouting his rival’s name “Messi! Messi!!” as he was jeered off the pitch following a 2-0 defeat to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
Saudi lawyer Nouf bin Ahmed led calls for Ronaldo to be deported from the country but Al-Nassr has since come out to defend Ronaldo, claiming the gesture came after a blow to his genitals earlier in the match.
What’s next for Ronaldo?
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be in rigorous form when Al-Nassr faces Al-Raed in the Saudi Pro League on Friday, April 28.
