Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have shoved his 2022 World Cup woes as he shares beautiful moments for the first time after the tournament.
After a brilliant opening World Cup game against Ghana, Cristiano Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure in Portugal bench in the knockout.
His last group game against South Korea had set the tone for what will turn out to be his worst World Cup experience. Cristiano Ronaldo was furious when Portugal coach Fernando Santos subbed him off in the game. He appears to mutter some angry remarks directed at Fernandes Santos when his number was up for substitution.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo later dismissed reports that he directed his angry remarks at his manager. He maintained he was angry at a South Korean player that had attempted to hurry him off when he was about to be subbed off by Fernando Santos.
The five times Ballon d’Or winner was then benched in the round of 16 game against Switzerland. He also started from the bench against Morocco in the quarterfinals.
Ronaldo was at the center of controversies in Qatar. He was angry for being benched against Switzerland and had threatened to quit the team in Qatar as advised by his sister Elma Aveiro.
He also refused to join Portugal substitutes’ training after playing for less than 20 minutes against Switzerland.
The former Real Madrid forward left the pitch in tears after Portugal crashed out of the World Cup, losing 1-0 to Morocco.
After the World Cup exit, Ronaldo took to his social media handle, reiterating his resolve to stick to his game despite falling out of his ultimate dream of winning the World Cup trophy.
Amidst his World Cup woes, Ronaldo now has to battle to return to form and also land a deal that will see him return to club football.
He fell out with Manchester United before the World Cup after admitting being betrayed by the club in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
Manchester United terminated his contract. He was spotted training at a Real Madrid facility after the World Cup.
Ronaldo is now a free agent, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a mega offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Al Nassr is offering Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract worth £173million.
Ronaldo is reportedly keen on plying his trade in Europe despite offers from the Middle East.
He wants to continue playing in the Champions League and possibly for a top European club, but there is no offer from any European club.
However, despite his current ordeal – missing out on his biggest dream and turning into a free agent – Ronaldo lit his Instagram page with a pic of himself in a spa complex with five different emojis.
They were of a frozen face, a finger pointing upwards, a pair of goggles, drops of sweat and a figure lifting weights.
The post appeared to be a reference to his gym routine, with the frozen face potentially referring to an ice bath.
The 37-year-old also posted a topless snap showing off a bulging bicep. Despite his recent travails, Cristiano Ronaldo remains upbeat about his future.
With major European leagues resuming after the World Cup break, Cristiano Ronaldo will likely move to the Middle East if no European club submits an offer for him in the January transfer window.
