Cristiano Ronaldo has donated his hotel in Marrakech, Morocco to be used as a shelter for survivors of the recent Morocco earthquake.
The 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the mountainous High Atlas region of Morocco on Friday, September 8, 2023, killing over 1,300 people and injuring thousands more.
Ronaldo’s hotel, the Pestana CR7 Marrakech, is located on the outskirts of the city and is a four-star property with 170 rooms. The hotel has been made available to survivors of the earthquake free of charge.
In addition to donating his hotel, Ronaldo has also pledged to donate €1 million to the Moroccan Red Crescent to help with relief efforts. He has also called on his fans to donate to the cause.
Ronaldo is not the only celebrity who has come forward to help the victims of the earthquake. Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi has also donated €1 million, while the Moroccan national football team has donated €500,000.
The Morocco earthquake is a tragedy for Morocco, but the outpouring of support from celebrities and ordinary people alike is a testament to the country’s resilience.
