Cristiano Ronaldo Brands First Full Season At Al Nassr As “one of the best” Despite Ending Campaign Trophyless

    Cristiano Ronaldo has termed his first complete season at Al Nassr as “one of the best” of his career.

    Despite the Knights of Najd ending the 2023/24 campaign trophyless, Ronaldo spoke highly about his outing throughout the season.

    Cristiano Ronaldo made these assertions on Monday, June 3, 2024, after he was handed the top-scorer award for the campaign, having netted a record-breaking 35 goals in 31 league appearances.

    The Portuguese smashed the Pro League record for goals in a single season, 34, set by Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018/19 season.

    Ronaldo’s Comment On Breaking Saudi Pro League Scoring Record

    Speaking about breaking the astonishing record in the Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo said: “To be honest, it means a lot because it’s my work.

    “I have to be honest and say it’s not something I was looking for at the beginning of the season, but over time I started to see that it was possible.”

    The 39-year-old also appreciated his teammates for the role they played in him breaking the immense record, whilst also expressing that this would spur him on to continue giving his best.

    Cristiano Ronaldo said: “So, I have the opportunity to say thank you to my teammates because, without the team, nothing individually would have been possible.

    “I feel very proud to beat the Saudi League record. It’s great for me, I feel happy, and this is my motivation to play football, to train every time, and to carry on like that.”

    Meanwhile, Al Nassr finished second in the Saudi Pro League, with 82 points from 34 league matches.

    They also failed to win the Asian Champions League, as they were dumped out of the competition in the quarter-finals.

    Al Nassr were also bundled out of the Saudi Super Cup by rivals Al Hilal in the semi-finals.

    Additionally, Al Nassr also lost the Saudi King’s Cup in the defining stage, as they were defeated on penalties by Al Hilal in the final.

    Ronaldo has managed to win only the Arab Club Champions Cup so far at the Riyadh-based club.

    Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming to galvanize Luis Castro’s side towards success in the 2024/25 season.

    Ronaldo will be hoping that players like Sadio Mane, Anderson Talisca, Marcelo Brozovic, David Ospina, Aymeric Laporte, and Alex Telles can also contribute their quota in helping the club achieve success next term.

    The attacker has netted 58 goals and provided 15 assists in 64 appearances for Al  Nassr across all competitions.

    Anyway, Cristiano Ronaldo’s attention will shift to the upcoming 2024 European Championship, with the tournament slated to commence on June 14, 2024.

    The former Manchester United man is expected to be amongst Portugal’s contingent for the Euros, with their first game being against Czech Republic on June 18, 2024.

    Ronaldo has scored 759 goals and provided 238 assists in 1013 club career appearances across all competitions.

    Internationally, Cristiano Ronaldo has made 206 appearances for Portugal, scoring 128 goals and providing 46 assists.
