The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) award went down on Tuesday night, August 20, 2024, and several footballers were honoured for their brilliance in the 2023/24 season.

Phil Foden Named The PFA Players’ Player of the Year (Male)

Manchester City’s Phil Foden took home the PFA Players’ Player of the Year (Male) prize, as he was adjudged the best player of the previous English Premier League season.

Foden defeated Rodri, Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Olie Watkins, and Cole Palmer to claim the coveted gong.

Phil Foden made 53 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City last season, scoring 27 goals and providing 12 assists.

His stellar showing in the 2023/24 season was instrumental to the Cityzens securing a record-setting fourth-consecutive league crown.

Foden had previously in May 2024 received the 2023/24 English Premier League Player of the Season award alongside the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year Award.

Cole Palmer Claimed The 2024 PFA Young Player of the Year Award

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, having exuded qualities at Chelsea in the 2023/24 season.

Palmer claimed the honor ahead of Bukayo Saka, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Joao Pedro, and Michael Olise, who exited the Premier League this summer, as he joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old had an incredible breakout season with Chelsea following his move from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

Cole Palmer was one of the top performers in an underwhelming campaign for the Blues, notching 27 goals and providing 15 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Other Winners At The 2024 PFA Awards

Additionally, Notts County Jodi Jones was handed the PFA League Two Player of the Year award, while Birmingham City’s Alfie May was honored with the PFA League One Player of the Year prize.

Jones had an impressive season with Notts County, scoring 5 goals and providing 23 assists in 46 matches across all competitions.

Alfie, who presently plays for Birmingham City, made 50 appearances for Charlton Athletic in the 2023/24 season, scoring 27 goals and providing 1 assist in all competitions.

Crysencio Summerville, who currently plies his trade with West Ham United, having joined the club from Leeds United this summer also took home the PFA Championship Player of the Year award.

Summerville had an impressive season with the Whites despite their failure to gain promotion to the Premier League, as they lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton.

Crysencio Summerville made 49 appearances for Leeds United in the 2023/24 season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions.

Moreover, Manchester United’s Grace Clinton, who was on loan at Tottenham Hotspur in the 2023/24 season, outwitted Lauren James, Jess Park, Maya Le Tissier, Aggie Beever-Jones, and Khiara Keating to clinch the PFA Players’ Young Player of the Year (Female).

Grace Clinton made 20 appearances for Spurs in the Women’s Super League last season, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists.

Manchester City’s Bunny Shaw had to submerge teammates Lauren Hemp and Yui Hasegawa alongside the Chelsea trio of Lauren James, Erin Cuthbert, and Niamh Charles to get the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award (Female).
