Southampton
Southampton were the first team to be confirmed relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The Saints dropped from the English topflight for the first time in 11 years. They last suffered relegation in the 2004/05 season, and it is the third time in their history they have been relegated from the English topflight.
Southampton sat bottom of the 2022/23 Premier League with just 25 points after the final matchday.
Leeds United
Leeds United’s stay in the Premier League came to an end on the 2022/23 final matchday. The Tricky Trees suffered a heavy 4-1 home defeat to Tottenham to dent their Premier League survival hopes.
They finished 19th on the table with 31 points and has managed to drag the relegation fight to the final matchday.
Leeds gained promotion to the Premier League in 2019/20 season and have stayed for three seasons in the English topflight before heading back to Championships.
Leicester City
Leicester City ended up being relegated from the Premier League after finishing 18th on the table with 34 points.
Leicester City finished strong on the final matchday, defeating West Ham but could not survive as Everton also edge pass Bournemouth to secure the last survival spot.
Leicester City are now among Premier League winners such as Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City, who have been relegated from the Premier League.
Clubs promoted to the Premier League 2023
The three clubs promoted to the Premier League in 2023 are Burnley, Sheffield United, and Luton
Burnley
Burnley earned promotion to the Premier League after defeating Middlesbrough 2-1.
If was their first attempt on promotion after being relegated last season from the English topflight and their ninth spell in the English topflight. Burnley won 2022/23 Championships with 101 points.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United were the second team to seal their promotion to the 2023/24 Premier League after securing a place in the top two with a 2-0 win over West Brom.
They had spent two seasons in Championships after being relegated from the English topflight in 2020/21 season.
Sheffield United spent six seasons in League One before gaining promotion to Championships in 2017 and then to Premier League in 2018 but were relegated in 2021. They are now back to the English topflight after finishing second in Championships with 91 points behind champions Burnley
Luton Town
Luton is the last team promoted to the 2023/24 Premier League season after winning Championship playoffs.
The Hatters played a 1-1 draw with Coventry in playoff final but won 6-5 on penalties to clinch the last promotion spot to the English topflight. It is their first time gaining promotion to the first tier in the history of the club.
They finished third on Championships table with 80 points before heading to the playoffs.
