Scott Parker has been booted out as manager of Club Brugge after less than three months at the helm of affairs of the side.

Parker coached Club Brugge in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League encounter with Benfica and he lost abysmally by 5-1 in the second leg.

The team tutored by Scott Parker were smashed over two legs

In the first leg, Scott Parker’s side were also defeated by 2-0 at their home turf, the Jan Breydelstadion in Brugge, Belgium which cumulatively shows a massive 7-1 defeat from the hands of the Portuguese side, Benfica.

Club Brugge revealed that the 42-year-old has been sacked in a short statement sent out by the club on Wednesday: “Scott Parker is no longer head coach of Club Bruges.”

The Englishman coached Fulham between 2019 and 2021 and he started the season with The Cherries, Bournemouth but he was ousted after four games in charge of the side.

He was offered the job to manage Club Brugge on the 31st of December 2022, and his first game as the coach of the side was on the 8th of January.

Parker picked up just 2 wins out of 12 at the Belgian champions and the 18 time winners of the Jupiler league are presently 4th in the Belgian first division, 21 points behind league leaders Genk.

This is the first time Club Brugge had qualified for the Champion League knockout round in the tournament’s present format.

Scott Parker secured AFC Bournemouth promotion to the Premier League last campaign, but his time with the side was halted after a 9-0 hammering received from the hands of Liverpool in August.

The former England international speaking with reporters following the end of the game with Benfica said: “For me it’s been challenging, but the players have been brilliant and want to do everything they can to turn this around.

“I understand people now doubt me, I’m not naive enough to not think that. All I can say is that I’m trying to turn this around and create a team that will start winning again.”

When questioned on whether he would continue with the side after the defeat, Scott Parker stated: “You are asking the wrong person.”

Scott Parker’s time appeared to be coming to an end after Club Brugge were defeated last Friday 3-0 by 16th placed Oostende who are currently in sight of relegation.

The loss to Oostende occured just 6 months since they were crowned Champions of the Belgian Pro League

Club Brugge drew 5 of their last 10 matches in the Belgian top-flight, picking up maximum points in 2 and losing the remaining 3.

That run of form placed them with just 1 point in front of the teams justling for the remaining position in the end-of-season play-off.
