Serie A giants AC Milan have completed the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea on a permanent deal.
AC Milan have been in contact with Chelsea since May to sign Loftus-Cheek.
Former AC Milan manager Paolo Maldini is said to be a strong admirer of the player and was behind the push for the club to sign Loftus-Cheek.
Despite the sack of Paolo Maldini, AC Milan is said to have pressed on with their interest in signing Loftus-Cheek under Stefan Pioli.
Now, according to reports reaching us from Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have “completed the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea.”
Both clubs have a greed on a deal worth £20m; £16m + £4m add-ons for the player.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a top transfer target for the Rossoneri as the club brace up for next season’s campaign.
He has reportedly agreed a long term contract with AC Milan. Final details of the deal are still being sorted out with medicals expected soon.
Loftus-Cheek is a homegrown Chelsea player. He made his Chelsea debut in 2014 and has made 200 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals.
After a brilliant start to his Chelsea career in 2014, Loftus-Cheek fell off the pecking order in 2017/18 season. He was loaned to Crystal Palace. Again in 2020/21 season,. Loftus-Cheek was loaned to Fulham.
He returned back to Chelsea in 2022 and has spent the last two seasons in the club still struggling for regular game time.
Loftus-Cheek will be expected to fill the void left by former AC Milan star Sandro Tonali who left the club for Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Despite his lack of goals for Chelsea, Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s move is a fair transaction for the Rossoneri who have secured an experienced replacement for Sandro Tonali at a strikingly lower offer compared to Sandro Tonali’s.
The move is also a win for Ruben Loftus-Cheek who will be playing Champions League football next season with his new club. AC Milan finished 4th on the Serie A table while Chelsea, finished on the 12th position without European football next season.
Loftus-Cheek has won the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea and is hoping to open a new chapter in his career in Serie A.
AC Milan interested in another Chelsea star, Christian Pulisic
Italian outlet, Glanluca DiMarzio reports AC Milan are interested in a move for Christian Pulisic, who has a year remaining in his Chelsea contract.
Christian Pulisic was tipped to leave Chelsea this summer by pundits after struggling for a place in the team in 2022/23 season under different managers.
Pulisic made only 8 starts for Chelsea in 2022/23 season in his 24 appearances for the club, scoring and assisting once.
His 2022/23 stats was a big slip from his stats during 2021/22 season when he recorded 6 goals for the club and 2 assists in 22 apearances.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic will join the piling list of first team players leaving Chelsea in droves this summer. N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and Hakim Ziyech are all leaving the club this summer with more names expected to be added to the list.
