The 24-year-old Manchester City forward was the heroine as the Lioness broke a 56-year-old jinx to win their first Euro Championship since 1966. The Lioness had taken the lead thanks to Ella Toone’s 62nd-minute strike. The German women responded courtesy of Lina Maghull’s equalizer in the 79th minute.

Afterward, the dramatic game was forced into extra time as both sides struggled to pull the winner.

The Lioness needed to pull some magical moments to put the game above their solid German opponents, who have won the tournament for a record 8 times and were anticipating a 9th European Championship trophy.

At that point, Chloe Kelly became the unlikely hero as she gave the Lioness a dramatic lead, slotting home a corner kick that bounced off Bronze.

The stadium was filled with record spectators of 87,192, mostly English fans, who thronged the stadium to watch the Lioness trade tackle with serial winners of the competition, Germany.

Kelly tore the Wembley stadium apart after coming off the bench to score the winner. The former Arsenal and Everton star could not hold her joy, netting her first international goal in such a crucial encounter to help the Lioness bring the 2022 Europe Women’s Championship home. The England international whipped off her shirt as she blazed with pure joy celebrating the goal in style.

Kelly started her football career playing for Queens Park Rangers before joining Arsenal training Academy – Centre of Excellence, where she displayed great football skills.

She is known for having started playing football at a very tender age, being the youngest among her siblings. She officially joined Arsenal’s first team in 2015. A year later, she was loaned out to Everton, where she spent two years until 2018.

Chloe Kelly: England, Euro 2022 And International Stats

Apart from bringing home the much-anticipated trophy to thirsty England fans, Chloe Kelly’s winner was a revival of Chloe’s dwindling international career. She made a total of 6 appearances in the competition without a goal or an assist and was yellow-carded once in the Euros 2022 Women Championship.

Before her five-star performance in the final of the tournament, she was hit with an anterior Ligament injury which ruled her out of the Olympics. Chloe almost missed the Euros 2022 Women Championship but fought hard to return to the pitch.

Although plying her trade with top clubs, Chloe has not had a rosy spell in her international career with England. She made her first England Senior National team debut in 2018 in a 3-0 friendly win against Austria. She has played for the U-17 and U-20 England Women teams, winning a bronze in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2018.

The 24-year-old has indeed brought smiles to the faces of English football fans ending their 56 years wait for the Euro Women Championship trophy.
