Reports indicate that Chelsea is planning a stunning summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
Haaland has been in good form, scoring in almost every game he plays. His recent impressive play sees him score his first international hattrick for Norway in the UEFA Nations League game against Romania. The Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker Erling Haaland has so far scored four goals for both club and country.
If Chelsea succeeds in luring him to the Stamford Bridge, his partnership with Timo Werner could be devastating for Premier League defenses.
A reliable transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has earmarked the Norwegian sensation as his big-money target in 2021 as he continues to rebuild his squad at Stamford Bridge.
Erling Haaland’s goal stats
Haaland became one of world football’s most sought-after strikers after a successful season with Red Bull Salzburg. The Norwegian scored 28 goals in just 22 games in the first half of the season, including eight Champions League goals.
In a battle with Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund quickly signed him after activating his £18million release clause.
It showed that it was a piece of good business as the 20-year-old hit the ground running in Germany with 16 goals in 18 games to finish the season. He has also picked up where he left off in 2020/21, with four goals in three Bundesliga games.
This has made Haaland not to be short of any suitors, prompting Chelsea to register their interest early. According to Romano, they are keen to make him their big-money signing next summer.
Provided they can meet his £62m release clause in his contract at Dortmund which does not become active until 2022, he could move from the club to Stamfiorde Bridge.
Other Chelsea targets
Meanwhile, it was also reported that Lampard is also looking at Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez as a key target summer.
The Blues were strongly linked with the Uruguay international. But the LaLiga side were reluctant to sell him without finding a replacement.
