Arsenal dominated the game as they look set to return to the top of the Premier League table.
They had a chance in the 10th minute. Martinelli held the ball near the corner flag and waited for Jesus’ support. The Brazilian found White to the right of the box. The right back smashed a shot that bounced wide of the left-hand post.
Arsenal came across another chance in the 18th minute as they continued dominating play.
Loftus-Cheek losed possession to Jesus on the edge of his box. The Arsenal man skipped past a few challenges and blasts the ball against the covering Silva.
As the pressure inside the Chelsea half continued, former Arsenal player Aubamenyang got a yellow card in the 27th minute.
He slid into White, catching his former team-mate on the top of his foot, and was deservedly booked.
Two minutes later, Arsenal came across another great chance to take the lead against the unimpressive Graham Potter side.
Martinelli skipped inside from the left and picked out Jesus’ run toward the far post. The Brazilian has the goal at his mercy and headed just wide! That was inches away.
Arsenal still maintained dominance with the possession and pushed hard for an opening goal.
Nevertheless, Chelsea came close to their first clear chance in the 34th minute.
Havertz ghosts onto Sterling’s pass into the box and forced a decent save from Ramsdale. Up the other end, Xhaka has a shot deflected out for a corner.
With few minutes left to play in the first half, England star Saka was booked in the 42nd minute after he vengefully chopped down Cucurella, who had nudged and dispossessed him.
The first half finally came to an end. Arsenal were the better side, although they did not totally outplay the Blue, but had more chance than the Blues.
Chelsea improved their game as the second half began, curtailing Gunner’s ball possession.
However, Arsenal was more menacing than their hosts when charging forward.
Azpilicueta was shown the yellow card for catching Martinelli with a high foot in the 51st minute. The Blues’ captain was obviously unhappy with the decision.
Chalobah also got a yellow card in the 60th minute as Arsenal continued to mount pressure.
The Gunners got closer to breaking the goal deadlock by creating clear chances.
It was not long before they finally did it in the 63rd minute. Saka sent a corner into the center. It bounced through everyone to Gabriel Magheles, who hooked the ball high into the net from closed range!
Graham Potter substituted Aubamenyang, Kai Havertz, Loftus-Cheek, and Mount for Broja, Gallagher, Kovaci, and Pulisic, respectively.
But the game changed little in favor of the host as Arsenal continued dominating play, wresting over 50% of the ball possession.
Mikel Arteta brought out Zinchenko and Odegaard for Tierney and Elneny.
Despite going a goal up, Arsenal still dominated play, with Chelsea unable to create clear chances in the game.
The match finally ended with Arsenal continuing in their form as they returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Chelsea.
