Chelsea have acted faster than Manchester United after securing an agreement with Monaco for Axel Disasi deal worth €45 million to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.
The player agreed to a five-year contract with Chelsea with an option for an extra year in 2029. He is set to travel to London for his medical this week.
The 25-year-old defender has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle, but now he is set to become Chelsea’s latest signing in the transfer window.
He is going to be Chelsea’s sixth signing of the summer after the club acquired Christopher Nkunku, Nicholas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel, Diego Moreira, and Lesley Ugochukwu.
The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Ethan Ampadu have left Stamford Bridge this summer, but the injury crisis persists, with Chelsea needing reinforcements.
Wesley Fofana may not be available for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 13, 2023.
In the preseason match against Fulham on July 30, 2023, Trevoh Chalobah was substituted after suffering a minor injury. Benoit Badiashile is also recovering from a hamstring injury.

The defender made 223 appearances, scoring 17 goals and creating four assists in all club competitions. He had received 21 yellow cards and two red cards.
Out of the 17 goals scored, 12 were for Monaco and four for Stade Reims. The defender also scored a goal for Paris FC.
However, for his national team, France, the defender had made 10 appearances without scoring a goal. He is likely to become the defender to replace Wesley Fofana in the French squad.
