Chelsea have signed Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as the club’s new manager after reaching agreement with Leicester City.

In a report confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have reached total agreement with Maresca, including settling for a compensation fee with Leicester City.

Details of the deal reveal Chelsea and Maresca have settled for a five-year contract till 2029 with an option for a one-year extension.

The deal could see the Italian become one of the longest-serving Chelsea managers in recent times should he ace the benchmarks as set by the club’s hierarchy.

Fabrizio Romano says;

“Chelsea have agreed to appoint Enzo Maresca as the new head coach, here we go!

“Understand the agreement is now done on contract valid until June 2029, a five-year deal.

“It will also include an option to extend until June 2030.

“Chelsea, set to pay compensation fee to Leicester.

With all elements of the agreement thrashed out, Chelsea will be expected to make an official announcement confirming the 44-year-old as new manager in the coming days.

The former Manchester City assistant manager will replace immediate past Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who was shown the exit door after the just-concluded 2023-24 campaign.

The Chelsea job will be a tricky one for Maresca. The former Italy U21 player has only managed two elite clubs in his career. He managed Parma in 2020 and was sacked the next season after failing to qualify the club to Italy’s elite division.

He secured his second first-team management with Leicester City in 2022, where he excelled and caught the attention of top clubs in Europe after he led the Foxes back to promotion in his first season.

He will hope to replicate a similarly brilliant campaign as he sets out for a new challenge with Chelsea.
