A legend of Chelsea football club and Former German international, Michael Ballack said his countryman, Timo Werner and Chelsea made the right decision to work together. However, the 43-year-old football icon wants Werner to understand the difference between playing in the Premier League and playing in the German Bundesliga.

Michael Ballack played for Chelsea for four seasons before he returned to German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, where he ended his professional football career. While at Chelsea, the midfielder played over 105 games and scored at least 17 goals. He has also played for Bayern Munich where he won German player of the year three times before he joined Chelsea in 2006.

So, the 43-year-old Geman football icon knows what it means to play in both the Premier League and the German Bundesliga. Hence, he wants Timo Werner to know that there is “less whistling” in the Premier League unlike in the Bundesliga. But noted that the 24-year-old RB Leipzig forward would quickly get used to it.

“That is the biggest difference in England that there is less whistling (from referees), especially for strikers,” he told Sky.

“It is much more intense, with a lot more duels. He has to get used to it quickly because that’s the point. He is a robust player, is very fast, but he is also physically good in a duel and he will quickly get used to it.”

Timo Werner is almost a Chelsea player as the club overtook Liverpool football club and other clubs that were interested in him, to activate his £53million release clause. The club is expected to complete the deal before the end of next week.

The odds of Werner succeeding at Chelsea are very high as he has been having the best time of his football career this season, scoring 31 goals and providing 13 assists in all competitions for RB Leipzig. Micheal Ballack feels Werner is good to go.

“I think it’s a good decision for both sides. For Timo, because he fits there because the way [Chelsea] play football suits him,” Ballack said.

“I think that in Chelsea he has decided on a club where he has a better chance of playing, which is very important to him. Timo Werner team will be renewed, it will certainly be strengthened and a lot of money will be spent in Chelsea to knock again at the top.”
