Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he knew Chelsea job will be difficult as it involves rebuilding a team from the scratch
A late comeback, inspired by Cole Palmer’s stoppage-time double against Manchester United, secured Chelsea a dramatic Premier League win over Manchester United.
After Palmer, left unmarked in the Man United box with a corner-pass from Enzo Fernandez, had his shot deflected into the net to hand the Blues the winner, Pochettino frolicked with an overwhelming joy, celebrating the goal.
United must have fallen out of luck, dropping all three points at the death at Stamford Bridge but the win meant more to Pochettino.
It has been seven years since Chelsea edged out Manchester United in a competitive game. Moreso, the under-pressure gaffer needed a win against United after a poor show against 10-man Burnley in their last game before the United match.
After the win over United, Mauricio Pochettino admitted he took a gamble deciding to manage Chelsea.
The Argentine said he knew the challenge of rebuilding the team would be a tough and massive one.
“I played with my reputation to come to Chelsea also, in a project that is to build a team with young, talented players with the potential to become top players.
“We knew that was a massive challenge but I want to give the team the tools to win games, believe in ourselves, and build a very good relationship”.
Pochettino has seen his rating dropped drastically with Chelsea teetering on the middle and the bottom half of the Premier League table. However, he is more likely to continue on the reigns as Blues manager next season.
We reported earlier Todd Boehly subtly passed a vote of confidence on the Argentine when he said Chelsea will need time to make the best out of the array of youngsters assembled in the squad.
