Chelsea defenders Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella have been suspended for the Blues next Premier League game against Liverpool.
Fofana and Cucurella received their fifth yellow card of the season each during the match against Nottingham Forest and were suspended as a result of those yellow cards. The two defenders were slapped with a one-match ban.
Both players have started every Chelsea game in the Premier League this season, making significant contributions in helping the West London team win games.
Cucurella has been Chelsea’s first choice left back under Enzo Maresca in the 2024-25 Premier League season.
The 2024 Euro winner with Spain has seen off competition from Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga in the starting XI
The suspension will leave Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca in a selection dilemma ahead of the Liverpool game.
However, there are a lot of options for the manager, with Tosin Adarabioyo and Renato Veiga likely to replace the two suspended defenders.
The Chelsea side went into the international break with a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in the League.

VAR Save Nicolas Jackson From Trouble After He Appeared to Have Slapped A Nottingham Forest Player
The VAR saved Jackson from receiving a lengthy ban after it appeared that the Chelsea striker slapped Nottingham Forest star Morato.
The VAR verdict revealed that Jackson’s action doesn’t constitute violence, and there will be no punishment for the Chelsea striker.
After the Chelsea game against Nottingham Forest, there was a bust-up between the players and staff of both teams, which led to Enzo Maresca getting pushed to the floor.
Nottingham Forest winger Neco William pushed Cucurella into Maresca’s path, which made the manager fall unexpectedly.
Chelsea manager Maresca reacted to the incident in a post-match press conference, saying, “Yes, but also someone tried to kick me there. When I fell down, I was there like this, and someone arrived.”
“I was just there. In my technical area. This is the most important thing. If these kinds of things happen when you’re not in your area, probably people can say, he was not where he should be. At least I was in my area. It can happen. I’m okay, thank you.”
However, there are major concerns about the discipline of the Chelsea players. Last season, Jackson was constantly shown the yellow card for his horrible tackles and reaction to them.
