Chelsea are making a big step towards signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer in a big boost to their summer rebuild and overhaul.
After signing Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, the London club may soon be closing in on their second signing this summer as Moises Caicedo is on their radar.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have finally reached full agreement with Moises Caicedo on personal terms in a big boost to their attempt to sign the player.
The transfer guru said Chelsea have finally settled on contract duration and salary for Moises Caicedo “barring small details.”
Following the agreement on personal terms with Caicedo, Chelsea are expected to settle with Brighton’s transfer fee for Caicedo.
The Seagulls are ready for Caicedo’s departure unlike last summer but will only allow the Ecuadorian ace to leave when they bag the right offer for the player.
They want £100m for Caicedo and are not ready to budge on the valuation of the player.
Chelsea have tabled a £60m first bid for Moises Caicedo but have been turned down. They are expected to launch another bid for the player soon and have been locked in talks and negotiations for a deal to happen.
Sources close to the club have revealed Chelsea are not ready to back off from Caicedo’s move despite submitting a bid with a gaping difference from Brighton’s £100m price tag.
There are projections their next bid for Moises Caicedo will still fall below Brighton’s valuation with the Blues hoping the Seagulls will later peck down the price.
Chelsea need Caicedo to offset the flurry of midfielders that have exited the club this season. N’Golo Kante has joined Saudi champions Al-Ittihad as a free agent. Mateo Kovacic has joined Manchester City. Mason Mount has agreed personal terms with Manchester United to join the Old Trafford club with Kai Havertz closing in on a move to Arsenal.
More exits are expected in the coming days with Hakim Ziyech and Aubameyang also expected to join the mass exodus.
Moises Caicedo is expected to join the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk at the centre of the midfield should he complete a move to the club this summer.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked to a move for Caicedo but Chelsea are currently leading the race. They are the only club to have tabled a bid for the player so far with Arsenal focusing on West Ham midfield sensation Declan Rice while Manchester United are trying to find a replacement for David De Gea with Inter Milan’s Andrea Onana on the radar.
Moises Caicedo was caught up in a tug of war with Brighton hierarchy last summer when he tried to force a move to Arsenal but was sanctioned by the club.
He returned to the squad and signed a new contract after the transfer saga but he is now open to an exit from the club this summer.
He has made 37 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls in 2022/23 season, scoring a goal and delivering one assist for the club.
