Chelsea have agreed to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen for €80million plus €20million add-ons which will be the highest transfer fee the London club has ever paid for a player.

The most expensive player the club has ever bought was Kepa Arrizabalaga. The goalkeeper cost Chelsea £71.6 million when they signed him from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

Kai Havertz is on the verge of shattering that club transfer record as he has said he could not wait to join the blue side of London. The 21-year-old German midfielder who is currently preparing to face Spain tonight in European Nations League is expected to come to Stamford Bridge for his medical after his international engagements.

Kai Havertz is expected to join Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr, and Xavier Mbuyamba in Frank Lampard‘s new-look squad ahead of the 2020-2021 season.
