Tottenham are closing in on a new manager with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou close to taking over the vacant job in North London.

After losing Antonio Conte following a post-match vitriol, Tottenham have been in search of a new manager to replace the Italian football veteran.

Former Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann, made Tottenham’s shortlist, including Luis Enrique.

The two manages were also in contention for the vacant job at the other side of London at Chelsea but were overtaken by Mauricio Pochettino.

While Chelsea have got hold of the former Spurs manager, Spurs were still in search of a hand at the dugout. They were linked to Feyernood and Eredivisie winner, Arne Slot, but Slot chose to renew his contract with Feyernood.

With the lack of European football next season, it was obvious Spurs are more likely to suffer setbacks landing high-profile managers against next season.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are closing in on a deal with Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, to become the new manager at the club.

The North London club are reportedly closing in on a deal with Postecoglou. The Celtic boss has agreed to the proposal but details of the contract are yet to be laid out.

Talks between the two parties are expected to continue this week with announcement and official confirmation expected soon.

Who is Ange Postecoglou?

Ange Postecoglou is a professional football manager with Celtic football club and a former Australian former professional footballer.

Ange Postecoglou was born in Athens, Greece but he started and nurtured his professional football career and managerial career in Australia.

He started and played as a defender for South Melbourne throughout his career, making 193 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals.

Postecoglou made only 4 international appearances for Australia.

Postecoglou started his managerial career with South Melbourne in 1996 after a great career at the club as a player. Form 2000 to 2007 he was given the Australia U-17 and U-20 job.

He has managed Australia senior national team from 2013 to 2017 and have had spells with clubs in Australian league.

After over 30 decades in Asian football as both a player and manager, Ange Postecoglou took his managerial career to the shores of Europe in 2021 when he was appointed Celtic manager.

Ange Postecoglou is a trophy winning manager. He won both club and international trophies while he was in Asia. At Celtic, the 57-year-old has replicated same feat.

He has won five trophies at Celtic in his two seasons at the club. He won the Scottish Premier League in his debut season in 2022 and has defended the title in 2023.

This season, Ange Postecoglou has won a domestic treble with Celtic – the Scottish Premier League, League Cup, and the Scottish Cup.

There was widespread skepticism when Ange Postecoglou became the manager of Celtic with Scottish pundits questioning his pedigree to take charge of such a high-profile club in Scotland.

However, Postecoglou have proved critics wrong. After losing the league title to Rangers, Celtic reclaim their decade long Scottish dominance, winning the title two times in a row under Postecoglou’s watch.

He won the Scottish Manager of the Month five times and has become the first Australian manager to win a league title in Europe.

Tottenham are hopeful he will replicate same feat next season at the club.
