Manchester City vs Chelsea is definitely going to be a cracker. Tuchel will be battling it out with Carabao cup hero Pep Guardiola. The Spanish tactician and the tiki-taka legend is a hero, not a villain of the Carabao cup. Pep Guardiola stormed into the competition and won it four consecutive times between 2017 to 2021. Chelsea subsequently featured as one of the casualties of Guardiola’s domineering episode. They fell in the 2019 finals to the Citizens.

It has been a long time since both sides crashed out in the third round of the competition. Chelsea last crashed out in the third round of the competition in the 2011-12 football season. Manchester City were earlier bundled out of the competition in the 2014-15 season. Therefore, the match will be a make-or-break encounter with both sides looking to build on their records.

Liverpool 2021/2022 Carabao Cup Champions

Liverpool battles League One side Derby County. They are the defending Champions, who broke Manchester City’s four-year uninterrupted rule of the competition. Jurgen Klopp will be expected to shelve his poor Premier League start and hit the ground running with a win against Derby.

Liverpool are surprisingly winless in their opening three encounters. A 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage against Fulham, a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Crystal Palace, and then falling to Manchester United at Old Trafford are fans’ nightmares. Klopp will be expected to buckle up against the lowly-rated Derby County side.

Arsenal trade tackles with Brighton at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are on fire and are yet to lose a game, having won their three Premier League fixtures convincingly. The Seagulls are not push-overs either and will give Mikel Arteta a tough fight.

Pep Guardiola won Carabao Cup four consecutive times

Manchester United takes on Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa. Aston Villa were the first to remind Erik Ten Hag of his incompleted rebuilding job at Old Trafford when they interrupted the club’s winning run in the preseason. The Red Devils struggled in their first two matches before securing a crucial win against Liverpool.  Aston Villa will be a tough nut to crack for Erik Ten Hag.

Antonio Conte will take his star-studded squad to Nottingham Forest. The Italian only drew one match against Chelsea and has won the other two.  Nottingham Forest lost their opening match against Newcastle, won against West Ham, and settled for a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. The clash against Tottenham will be a big one.

2016 Premier League champions Leicester City will host Newport County. Leicester City is surprisingly winless in their three opening Premier League matches. They have conceded 8 goals and scored 5. Despite a poor run of results, the Foxes will be expected to cruise easily to the next round.

The Carabao Cup will kick off on November, 7 2022.
