This is coming after the Red Devils had a very difficult 2021-22 English Premier League season.

Recall that Manchester United finished second during the 2020/21 Premier League season but saw themselves at 6th position at the end of last season, setting a record of their lowest points tally since 1990.

Fernandes who is one of the best players on the team and recently signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League side in April believes United’s struggles would soon be a thing of the past.

Speaking during an interview with Man Utd’s club channels, Fernandes revealed that he signed this new deal because he sees a turnaround in the Red Devils’ performance.

“I believe that the club will be back at the place it deserves to be, that’s why I signed a new deal,” he said.

“For me, I had long talks with the club, not about the contract but about the future of the club, because I want to be part of that if I stay. The club wants to win, the club wants to build something.

“From what they have told me, I believe that the club will be back to its standards. [It] could probably not be next season at the standard that we want, but I think step by step, the club will be back in the glorious days.”

Fernandes was the team’s second-leading scorer last season behind Cristiano Ronaldo with 10 goals, none of which came from the penalty spot, and six assists in the Premier League.

The Portugal player is currently the sole attacking midfielder left on the team after Juan Mata’s departure, though they are hoping to sign Christian Eriksen.

But Brentford are also interested in the midfielder and Christian Eriksen is yet to choose his next club ahead of the coming season.

Also, United are still pushing for the services of other players like Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, and Antony from Ajax.

The deal with Frenkie de Jong is likely to be finalized soon as both parties involved have reached an agreement, although the Dutchman has publicly revealed that he doesn’t want to leave Camp Nou this summer.

Reports in Spain claimed that the financial problems in Barcelona are one of the reasons why they are ready to release the midfielder this summer.
